“I’m not saying there will be no more wars after the war ends. No. It is impossible to completely erase evil from human nature. Yet it is within our power to guarantee with words and deeds that the light side of human nature will prevail.”

If I were Zelenskyy, this is what I imagine I would say to the world.

I see you.

The light in your eyes.

Your soul knows rest.

You have no fear.

You wear compassion for my country like a flag and embrace us with open arms and kind words.

I thank you for that.

Now, if you would but listen…

Do not think you know the answer until you have heard my people’s story through the eyes and heart of a Ukrainian, a people once lost and forgotten in the light of Mother Russia.

There is no longer light in my eyes. They house darkness. Not for a lack of light, but for the depth of unending sorrow that they carry.

For my people. For what has occurred.

You do not feel my pain. Nor could you because it is not your country. Your people. It’s not your way. You have not seen suffering.

Large, powerful countries that have never been conquered, never suffered under the chains of subjugation, been mastered or become the subject of ridicule of another land that is the supreme leader, could never understand the suffering of my people.

Your people believe that they know pain, but you do not know this pain unless you have lived it. Unless you have watched your brothers die before your eyes. And not just any death.

A death of spurting blood, exposed sinew, heart-wrenching sorrow, and lost words because you were not prepared…

I didn’t know my friend would die that day.

If you had experienced what I have—for just one day, for just one moment—you would have done everything in your power to end Putin’s regime. But still the war rages on for a year now. And now we are surviving winter, without warmth. Without resources.

Here in this post-modern, “enlightened” WOKE world, there is war. And not just any war. A war to conquer and hold power over—just like it’s always been on earth.

The world powers play their games…because their countries aren’t at stake. They hold nuclear arsenals in reserve. Perhaps this is the only reason we haven’t escalated to WWIII.

Let us hope together that we don’t.
